Our scientific interests in Economics and Finance include the following primary directions:

  • Financial time series analysis and forecasting – regression analysis, autocorrelation analysis, factor models, volatility modelling, exponential smoothing, GARCH processes.
  • Accounting-based firm valuation.
  • Portfolio optimization – diversification, efficiency, min variance portfolio.
  • Risk estimation and management – derivative instruments and their accounting according to International Accounting Standard, pricing, application for hedging; value at risk through historical simulation, volatility modelling, and bootstrap procedures.
  • Probability of default modelling according to Basel II; rating systems.
  • Bayesian modelling.

Our research knowledge has found multiple practical applications in our Business Optimization Solutions (BOS) for Dynamics AX (Axapta), such as:

  • Business Forecasting – allows automatic fulfillment of sales, purchase, inventory, and cash flow forecast models.
  • Transportation Problem – optimal geographical allocation of stocks (warehouses) and volume / quantity optimization of cargo transportations using mathematical methods of operations research.
