E-Commerce for Microsoft Dynamics AX (Axapta) based on Enterprise Portal

Introduction

As a part of Dynamics AX standard bundle, Microsoft presents Enterprise Portal to it's customers. This is a powerful web-based extension, including the E-Commerce functionality as well. Web shop is deployed as an Enterprise Portal module, called Customer Self Service (CSS). This module is tightly bound to Dynamics AX and not only provides your customers with the most up-to-date data from product catalog, invoices and company-related information, but also you with the immediate web order placement, processing flexibility and absolute workflow transparency.

Prerequisites

Microsoft SharePoint 2010 is used as a foundation for Customer Self Service. SharePoint requirements are listed at Microsoft website. Hardware requirements depend heavily on planned Portal load.

Workflow

Customer Self Service can be used as any other E-Commerce website. A customer can browse through the product catalog, read product descriptions, view image galleries, get acquainted with product modifications. Chosen products are placed into a shopping cart and a price is calculated - individually for every customer, taking in consideration discounts and trade agreements, defined in Dynamics AX. After checkout, new Sales order is immediately available to you and your customer. Invoices, sales lines, service requests - all information can be found in Enterprise Portal's appropriate sections.

The Customer Self Service Portal is a great way for you to get your customers to work for you. Rather than having them calling up and asking you questions about invoices, orders, you can give them a login for the Self Service website and they can find that information themselves. Rather than having the customers call you and place orders over the phone, or having them fax in orders and you transcribe them, you can have them log in and place their own orders.

Product catalog, presenting all products out of Dynamics AX with categories is available for browsing:

Product information, coming from your ERP system is always comprehensive and up-to-date. No more extra work to keep product data synchronised in different locations.

Different payment options, as well as complete Sales Order management is available through web UI

Conclusion

Dynamics AX E-Commerce portal, supplied with Dynamics AX 2012, is a great asset for B2B and B2C online sales processing. All in one place - this way you can manage your business the most effective way
